    St. Paul School of Northern Lights is a public charter school opening in 2019 with grades 

    K-6 in the West 7th neighborhood. St. Paul Northern Lights is looking for educators who are passionate about supporting students’ curiosity and love of learning. 

    The ideal candidates will have a strong desire to teach in a multi-age, progressive, culturally relevant classroom and community. We are seeking teachers who view the challenging endeavor of pioneering our school as an opportunity to work with agency, autonomy, and purpose. 

    Desirable candidates will appreciate time for reflection, collaboration, and innovation with colleagues. Effective teachers will see the absence of a curriculum guide as an asset, not barrier. 

    We have 4 types of open positions.

    • K-6 Elementary Licensed Teacher
    • K-6 Elementary Licensed Special Education Teachers-to work in inclusive multi-age classes.The positions include collaborating with general ed teachers, program planning and instruction, student evaluations, and IEP case management for K-6 students with disabilities. Positions could include small group instruction in areas of Social Skills, Language Arts, Reading, and/or Math courses.
    • K-6 Elementary Licensed Music Teachers Part-Time.Strong emphasis on collaboration, innovation and inspiring students to love and enjoy music for a lifetime. Willingness to work with colleagues to integrate music cross the curriculum.
    • K-6 Elementary Licensed Art Teacher-Part-Time. Strong emphasis on collaboration, innovation and inspiring students to love and enjoy art making for a lifetime. Willingness to work with colleagues to integrate art processes and ways of thinking and doing cross the curriculum.
    • Education and experience

      • K - 6 teaching license

      • Experience and knowledge in one or more of the following areas preferred:

        • Reggio

        • Outdoor Education

        • Practices of Finnish Education

        • Constructivist approach

    • Teaching philosophy

      • Embrace the mission and vision of the school.

      • Understand that:

        • The learner is competent and curious

        • Relationships are central

        • Knowledge is constructed by the learner in a social context

        • Multiple points of view deepen understanding

        • The environment drives learning

      • Document learning to deepen thinking, build a community of learners, communicate with families and community, and research teaching and learning.
