    Job Description

    Co-Lead Preschool Teacher for a 5-day morning class of 15, three, four and five-year-old children in a play-based preschool program, which operates on an academic calendar
    (9 months; September - June). Teachers are expected to develop and implement interactive learning programs designed to engage and educate young children usin
    g our “Big Idea” Emergent Curriculum, the Work Sampling assessment tool and the Encouraging Classroom behavior guidance approach. Supervise one group of children during lunch time.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Create and maintain a welcoming, organized classroom where the environment is considered the third teacher. Follow all DHS guidelines for cleaning and sanitation.

    • Plan and implement a developmentally appropriate, culturally relevant, anti-bias curriculum on a weekly or bi-weekly basis.

    • Establish a warm, supportive classroom community where children grow in their ability to relate to their peers, manage their own behavior, and believe in themselves as thinkers and learners.

    • Maintain open communication with parents through weekly emails, classroom newsletters, phone calls, 1-1 conversations and/or written communications.

    • Track children’s progress in all areas of development and communicate this progress to parents twice per year at a parent conference using Work Sampling as a guide.

    • Complete required training and continuing education as specified by DHS.

      Personal Qualifications:

      • BS/BA in education or relevant field and 5+ years of teaching experience

      • Excellent understanding of the principles of child development and preschool educational methods.

      • Highly professional colleagues have a range of 10-20 years of company longevity as well as early childhood education and experience averaging 15-20 plus years.

      • Expected Hiring Date: August 29, 2022. Hours: M-F - 8:30 – 1:30

      • Salary: $18.00 – $21.00 per hour - depending on experience and education
