Coordinator for Antiracist Curriculum and Lead Teacher

The Angela Day School (ADS) is seeking a Pedagogical Director (PD) to join as a founding teacher on the School Design Team. The position will be part-time during the school design phase and transition to full-time in the second year of operation, July 2023. The PD is an academic administrative role held by a lead teacher. The PD will support the educational program and lead the pedagogical vision of ADS. In consultation with teacher leaders, the PD designs a program of professional development, plans and organizes faculty retreats, develops and leads a review of school specific standards, and oversees the curriculum development process for the school in collaboration with teacher leaders and the Administrative Coordinator for Antiracist Curriculum and Programming. As a member of the School Design Team, the PD will lead the process and develop school specific standards in line with the pedagogical approach of ADS as well as lead teacher leaders in developing a curricular framework aligned with decolonizing the curriculum, progressive education pedagogies, the IB model for inquiry based learning, project based learning, and place based learning. The PD will also help outline the onboarding process for all newly hired teachers, including organizing professional development opportunities and new teacher orientations. The PD may also help pilot the teacher residency program. The PD will serve as a founding lead teacher for a mixed age class of 3rd/4th/5th graders or 4th/5th/6th grade students. As the school grows the PD will transition from a lead teaching position to a supporting co-lead teacher position.
