Seeing Children

The “Seeing Children” initiative began as our community prepared to host the “Hundred Languages” Exhibit (http://zerosei.comune.re.it/inter/100exhibit.htm ) in St. Paul, MN in 2004. We wanted to make visible the work of the Minnesota community, with its unique culture and contexts, as an integral part of the celebration of learning that was part of the Exhibit experience. One of the main intentions of “Seeing Children” was to gather the work of children and educators from diverse contexts in our area around common ideas. We then examined how the same ideas could be interpreted in many different ways.

“Seeing Children” initiatives have continued in the years since the Exhibit. For each topic of research, the participating teachers collaborate to develop the questions that guide and inspire their work.
